German Olympic Sports Confederation - DOSB

The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has been very active in the field of social inclusion over the last years. Since 2002, the DOSB has been running the programme “Integration Through Sports” with the main objective to integrate migrants into society through sports. It is a nation-wide initiative funded by the German Ministry of the Interior. The programme is implemented by the regional sport federations in close cooperation with selected local sport clubs and comprises a variety of measures, such as education and training, advice and tailored sports offers.

The DOSB has also successfully implemented the network project “More Migrant Women within Sports”. This programme was specifically designed to increase the participation of Muslim women with a migration background in sporting activities. Another well known initiative is the training measure “Sport Intercultural”, specifically targeted to coaches.
